A LAUNCH EVENT for the THE OPEN DOOR CENTRE at 2.45pm at the centre at 108 Liscard Road, Wallasey, CH45 4LD this SATURDAY 10th DECEMBER 2011.

The Open Door Centre, a free service for young people with anxiety or mild depression, are holding their official launch event on Saturday December 10th 2011.

The Centre has been set up with funding from the National Lottery, and is the first service in the area to be set up specifically to meet the needs of younger people with mild depression. By giving young people who feel a bit down, worried or blue access to the core treatment, ‘Beating the Blues’, the Open Door Centre is giving them a real and practical opportunity to improve their lives in a lasting manner.

At least one person in every six becomes depressed in the course of their lives. Depression is less common in children under 12 years old, but increases after that, affecting 5 in every 100 teenagers. By recognising and treating the symptoms and getting help, it’s possible to overcome depression, and prevent it coming back.

The Open Door Centre is on Seaview Road, Liscard, and is open Monday to Saturday for people to drop-in. It’s a friendly, relaxed place so pop in for a chat!
