 Litherland Circuit League

Sponsored for the 2010 Season by Chia Cycling Promotions

On the 30th September 2009 a meeting was held at the Litherland Sports Park, Boundary Lane, Litherland, Sefton, Merseyside,  L21 7LA  with representatives from the local cycling clubs - Liverpool Century RC; Liverpool Mercury (Dolan) CC; Merseyside Cycling Development Group; Merseyside Wheelers CC; Prescot Eagle RC and Southport CC when it was agreed to set up a cycling league for the Wednesday evening events to be held in 2010 and it was to be called Litherland Circuit League.  The Mersey Roads Club who were not able to attend have since joined and are promoting events under the Litherland Circuit League name together with the other clubs mentioned above.

The basis was that clubs could affiliate to the League which would then allow individual riders to affiliate so that they could enjoy reduced entry fees for events and besides the normal British Cycling licence points being available, riders would also gain points per category of rider, so that there would be a category rider winner for all British Cycling licence categories at the end of the season.

Providing there is sufficient funds at the end of the season, after paying all expenditure then prizes would be paid out based on the points winners’ positions for the season.

More details on joining the League are shown separately.   Points per event will be decided upon shortly following further discussions.   Shown also, is a list of events for the 2010 season – now up to 18 weeks of mid week racing and all at Litherland Sports Park.

The League is also, indebted to Paul Davenport of Chia Cycling Promotions who have made a donation for for the 2010 season.  On 14th October 2009 a meeting was held again at the Litherland Sports Park with youngsters, as well as Brian Nener who, together with Sefton Council, have done a great deal to encourage cycling at this new venue, especially for youngsters in attendance for the signing of this agreement.  See photographs taken at the signing of the agreement, with the Paul Davenport together with the acting secretary of the League Andy Gibson and the Treasurer, Paul Paterson.

A photocall is currently being arranged with the local newspapers for Sunday, the 25th October, 2009 further details from Tom Greep (07753 840241)
